Do They Make A Feather Bed For The Summertime?
The idea of a featherbed is to provide an extra layer of cushion and loft to sleep on. Adding a featherbed on your bed is a great way to boost the softness overall. Feather beds come with a variety of different shell constructions in order to satisfy the different levels of comfort. There is bag style meaning the feather bed acts just like a giant pillow on your bed with no stitching in the middle – thus allowing the fill to float freely. The channel construction has either horizontal or vertical columns sewn through the top and bottom of the fabric or ‘shell'. The middle of the feather bed is 3 inches in height andconsists of a blend of 5/95 White Goose Down & Feathers with Soft Down Alternative Polyester. The Channel construction allows the fill to shift appropriately while still providing balanced coverage.
The key to keeping your summer feather bed lofty lies in the fluffing of the featherbed once a week. The appropriate way to fluff the bed would be as follows: start on one side of the bed and fold one side to the middle then allow the featherbed to fold back and give it a good shake. Repeat the same process on the other side along with the headboard and footboard areas.

My featherbed is realy large and I'm trying to figure out how to get my sheets to fit comfortably over it.
Even when I pull the sheets they don't go completely over the mattress. I really don't want to sleep right on top of the featherbed because I'm sure it will get dirty
This might be an excuse to get some new sheets! Sheets today are larger to accommodate the new larger mattressess and paddings.
However, if that is not an option, get some lengths of sturdy fabric, and while the bottom sheet is on the bed (on top of your feather topper) sew or pin a length of it from one corner, under the mattress to the other corner, at a diagonal. Do this at all four corners. Even though your bottom sheet doesn't fully fit. these corner straps will prevent the sheet from flipping up.
And, no, you do not want to sleep on top of your feather bed. In fact, you should still have a fiber-fill mattress pad, because no matter what, those pesky little feathers will manage to poke their way through.
Because you have feathers, you need to be a little more cautous about dust mites and other allergens. Spray with allergen reducers, and if you cannot fluff the bed out doors or in a dryer (at least monthly) vacuum it thoroughly.
