Wedding Day Beauty: 4 spa treatments you don't want to postpone

Your wedding day is coming up and, if you're like every other bride, you want to look fabulous for the photos. This likely means undergoing a few beauty treatments to prepare your hair and skin for the big day.

But, there are some you shouldn't leave until the last minute – a small mistake or lack of proper healing time can leave your face looking red and blotchy. Take a look at these four spa treatments that will leave you looking radiant – as long as you give them proper time to heal:

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are a great way to smooth out and improve the texture of your skin. They're designed to help cover up blemishes, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and even out skin pigmentation. However, chemical peels can result in slight to moderate flaking two to three days after treatment. Although this can be easily controlled with moisturizers, it still occurs. It takes up to a week to begin to notice smoother, healthier, and younger-looking skin.

That said, there are a few types of chemical peels that are suitable for the day before a wedding or special event; just make sure you consult with a salon staff member or doctor before undergoing these treatments. An Illuminize Peel, for example, uses alpha hydroxyl acids and Phylic Acid to rejuvenate the skin with little irritation. After this peel, you'll experience no down time and little to no peeling. And, it's suitable for all skin types.

Waxing

This goes for arms, legs, bikini line, etc., but it's especially important for your eyebrows and any unwanted facial hair. If you've never had your eyebrows waxed before, schedule an appointment a few weeks before the wedding, then go in for a touch up 4-5 days before the big day. Or, if it's just a few stragglers, pluck them with a tweezers to avoid the possibility of an infection.

It usually takes one to two days for your skin to go back to normal after a waxing because the procedure leaves your pores are open and irritated. That means it's much easier for them to get infected, which usually results in tiny pimples around the area. By giving your body the extra days to adjust, you can help ensure they're gone by the day of your wedding.

Facial

If you've never had a facial before, or haven't gotten one on a regular basis throughout your life, don't risk it the week before your wedding. Facials can cause a rash, irritation, or redness – especially if you're a first-timer or have sensitive skin. It's essentially like trying a brand-new skin product; you need to give your skin time to adjust. If you want to get a facial, plan it at least 10 days before the wedding.

If you have been getting facials regularly throughout your adult life and are confident that your skin won't react adversely, it's okay to do it in the days leading up to the wedding. But, you should consider a steam facial that gives you a glowing complexion and can help relieve tension. Make sure you tell the salon that it's a week before your wedding, and they'll be able to avoid giving you something overly abrasive.

Spray Tan

A spray tan can be a wonderful thing; it gives your skin a healthy glow without you sitting in the sun and getting extended sun damage from dangerous UV rays. Instead, you'll get a soft golden-brown skin tone without the damage. But, as with the treatments listed above, spray tanning should not be tried the week before the wedding because you never know how your skin might react.

Consider doing a trial run about four weeks before the wedding. This will allow you to get a feel for what the spray tan will look like, learn of any negative effects, and allow your skin to rejuvenate if those negative effects do happen.

You should also make sure to choose a reliable salon that has well-trained staff members. Those who are well-versed in doing spray tans can help you choose the perfect shade and are much more likely to result in a positive experience.

How can I get tan quickly where I wear my wedding band?

So, all summer I have been wearing my wedding band since I am married, but I met this great guy from eHarmony and I'm meeting him this Friday night for drinks. I need to get the pale white circle on my ring finger to tan and match the rest of my finger. Does anyone know how ot do this?

Rub a little bit of that fake tan in a bottle crap on that spot. Just go for one of the darker ones.
