Aspiring College Athletes
Aside from a person’s intellectual prowess, the competitiveness in any type of sports is one of the factors to get a scholarship and have a college degree. Offering such sports scholarships in the United States and Canada has opened doors for more students around the world to fulfill their dreams which will not be possible without the required finances.
The good thing about playing for a particular sport in another country is that the individual will be able to be trained with the best coaches and players internationally. Both male and female players will have the opportunity to learn new tactics in their sports like college baseball for instance. Plus, they will learn how to adapt to various cultures through camaraderie with teammates and sportsmanship with other opponents.
So how does one get recruited? Recruitment processes and requirements vary in different universities. However, most schools require a high school graduate. The reason behind this is that the student will not only play for the sake of winning the games and impressing promoters of professional sports leagues. Aside from that, students get scholarships because they also have the responsibility and the opportunity to finish their chosen college degree.
Remember that in high school, a coach forbids even the star players in the varsity team to participate in games and finals whenever they fail any subject. The same thing goes with college sports. The schools encourage athletes to balance their education and their profession as a varsity player because they are considered to be role models for other students.
Ultimately, being a member of the college athletes is a combination of hard work and fame, wherein the latter will not be possible without the former. Playing and studying in a foreign territory is definitely a challenge, but it gives a whole new meaning to a successful career while still in school.

Can I play Varsity Baseball as a Freshman?
I am 6'0" 14 years old (Freshman) and about 180lbs. I play first base. I'm sort of big but I'm a good hitter and good on defence. The starter on currently is about 6' 4" and around 150 lbs. (senior) but not that great. Any answer would help and any suggestions are greatly appricated.
Realistically you could make the Varsity team but your playing time would probably be limited. If however you're an excellent talent you would end up playing a lot. In order to get the experience you need you'll need to play as much as possible. I would personally rather start on the freshman team than ride the pine with the varsity. Good luck!
