I know a homeless man who dumpster dived for cans to live. He is a Mormon. This was his only means of gaining an income in this harsh economy. After paying all that he had to the LDS Church, the next day he was still homeless.

And the next week he did the same thing, always giving at least a tenth of what he earned from his meager salary to the Church, sometimes much more than ten percent is what he gave. But he still remained homeless, and he had been homeless for fourteen years. And he had been following a similar pattern for all those years.

So I asked him. How could he be a Mormon, and pay his tithing, and then some, even when it seemed that God did not bless him financially, and sadly many people (some of them Mormons) despised him because of his rude clothes and lack of adequate housing.

But he told me, that he payed tithing because it was a commandment from God, and for no other reason. And he told me that if you believe in Jesus Christ, you will obey every commandment of Jesus Christ, and you will hope for no reward, but you will await what God will reward you in the next life after this life.

I was amazed at his answer to me. And I was amazed at his faith. And I was amazed that so many people despised him.

A true Mormon believes. A true Mormon has faith.

Not all Mormons are hedge fund managers who are running for President of the United States. Some of them are rummaging through garbage cans, and praying to God as they do, and they have been doing this for many years, and they will continue to do this, perhaps until the day they die.

But God loves everyone, the rich and the poor, the Black and the White. And all are equal in his sight. And God loves all of his children regardless of their circumstances or lack of wealth, and God provides for all those that live His holy and righteous commandments, that on judgment day those with faith, will live with Jesus Christ for all eternal time.

God will not ask you how much money you made in this life on Judgment Day. God will only ask you, if you repented, and kept the commandments of Jesus Christ as a way to show your love to Jesus Christ.
