Lap Quilt Frame
Often times when people are quilting, they might use a frame in order to keep their place in the quilt. A traditional frame quilt might be quite large. It can actually take up the size of a room, or a sizable wall. As such, it will take up a lot of space. On the other hand, there are some people that might want to work on a piece of the quilt, or on a small section of the quilt while sitting down in a chair, or on the sofa. This is when they would want to use a lap quilt frame to assist them in creating great stitches for their sewing project.
A quilt frame for laps almost looks like an embroidery hoop. They tend to be round, and they clamp onto small sections of the quilt. Typically, they are the size of a dinner plate. These are created to create tightness around a specific section of the quilt, so that the quilter can relax comfortably, and work on a small section of their project. These frames help the quilter in several ways. First, these help, because the quilter doesn't have to worry about considerations, such as if their frame will take up a lot of space like a larger frame would. The larger frames are so large, that they can be considered pieces of furniture. They actually tend to be the size of large dining tables.
On the other hand, using a lap quilt frame makes the project a lot more manageable. If a person is working on large sections of the quilt, they might need several people working at the same time. However, sometimes the person is working on a very small project like one section of a blanket, or a pillow. Obviously, if they are working on a small section, or on a small project, then a large quilt frame would be impractical. However, when they are able to use a lap quilt frame, these frames are able to help the quilter do their job quite nicely.
A person is able to purchase a lap quilt frame online at hobby supplies stores or even online. They are extremely light weight, and they're easy to store. Again, these are very useful to stretch out the material that is used for quilting, so that a person can make a tighter stitch within their quilting pattern. For example, if a person is quilting a pillow, or a pattern for a purse, then they need a tight pull on the fabric, to make sure that the dimensions are accurate. Therefore, when they use a lap quilt frame, or quilting hoops, they can make sure that the fabric is being pulled tight enough, so that they can get just the right stitching that they need.
Quilting is a time-honored tradition. There are lots of ornate pieces of art that can be created from quilted materials, as well as everyday practical items. When a person wants to make sure that they are sewing the stitching with accuracy, then using a lap quilt frame, and quilting hoops will go a long way to help them with their efforts.

I would love to hear your story.I have made several and gave them as gifts.The ones I make are easy,just cut out squares (mine are 5'') serge up three sides,stuff lightly,serge the end.Make these from any fabric you like.I used up a lot of scraps I accumulated over time.Then sew the "pillows" together to make one long strip,then make another strip,and sew the strips together until you get the size quilt you want.I don't use stretch fabrics tho,doesn't work too well but most any other fabric works ok.They are lightweight and warm.All my friends say they are beautiful.Soooo tell me your story and any other ideas you may have.I also made a handbag from these little pillows,turned out real nice,something different.I haven't seen one in a store anywhere.You can find a pic of my first quilt on my 360 page....Thanks a bunch
