A Description Of Chiang Rai Flower Garden
Mae Fah Luang floral gardens in Chiang Rai were constructed in 1992 and offer visitors an outstanding day out in the cool climate of the mountainous place. These floral gardens are absolutely dazzling and cover over 25 acres of immaculately maintained park land. Apart from the superb blossoms the view from these floral gardens is totally extraordinary you can view around 20 kms along the city of Chiang Rai. In the distance you can observe Mae Sai and also the sprawling mountains of Burma (Myanmar).
This flower garden is has a large selection of types of flora including irises, rhododendrums, lilies and an orchid garden. At center of this flower paradise is a fascinating statue featuring children grasping hands in an arc like manner. This flower garden in Chiang Rai has received several awards in the region and was the winner of the Pacific Asia Tourism award.
Getting to Mae Fah Luang is virtually as spectacular as the flower garden itself. You climb high into the mountains, often through cloud cover and actually feel the temperature decrease from thirty (30) degrees right down to ten (10) degrees on several days. A number of people elect to go to Mae Fah Luang by motorcycle. There are several spots to stop with incredible views over Chiang Rai flower garden. There are lots of temples to Mae Fah Luang and you could take a look at the Royal Villa that was the home of Her Royal Highness The Princess Mother.
The flower gardens were built by The Princess Mother as part of a more substantial project to enhance awareness in horticulture and agriculture in the area, and to offer a substitute source of income to the opium poppy farmers that can be too frequently found just over the mountain range in neighboring Burma.
