Rodeo Drive Guide
Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills is famous throughout the world for its trendy shopping, celebrity sightings and as the most popular street in Beverly Hills. Rodeo is relatively small and is as the main shopping area of Beverly Hills is only about a third of a mile long. The length of Rodeo Drive is lined by tall thin palm trees, glass store entrances and clean sidewalks. Annually millions of visitors arrive in LA and plan a stop on Rodeo Drive as their number one priority when seeing Beverly Hills.
Stretching through both a residential and commercial area, Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills begins at Sunset Blvd and extends over a mile to terminate at the intersection of Wilshire Blvd. Where the street begins at Sunset and extends to Santa Monica Blvd, beautiful multi million dollar homes with lush maple and oak trees in their front lawns have a Rodeo Drive address. Where Rodeo crosses Santa Monica Blvd is where the shopping begins. On this stretch of Rodeo is where visitors will find dozens of glass front stores representing the biggest names in retail in the world. Known shopping brands on Rodeo include Hermes, Prada, Louis Vuittone, Ralph Lauren, Gucci, Brookes Brothers, Harry Winston and Channel to name a few. The crowds are always thick along Rodeo and at any given moment there is always either a Ferrari, Maserati, Porsche or Rolls Royce either parked on the side or cruising up and down the drive.
Standing prominent over all of Rodeo Drive and seen as far north as the intersection of Rodeo and Santa Monica Blvd is the Beverly Wilshire Hotel. The hotel has an older yet still sophisticated architectural feel. One of only five star accommodations in all of LA, the hotel is most famous for its starring role in the movie Pretty Woman starring Richard Gere and Julia Roberts. Directly in front of the hotel and on the southeast corner of Rodeo Drive is an additional shopping area called Number 2 Rodeo. Number 2 Rodeo is modeled after the streets of Europe with cobblestone paths, and cute street lights lining the sidewalks. This area, like Rodeo Drive is full of additional high end shopping opportunities.
Although not a guarantee, visitors to Rodeo Drive may have a chance encounter with a celebrity or two. The crowds on Rodeo are diverse and it's not unusual to see a major celebrity while being followed by the paparazzi walking the sidewalks amongst the tourists. Names such as Britney Spears, Diane Keaton, Madonna and Susan Sarandon have all been seen regularly on Rodeo in recent years.
Christmas time on Rodeo Drive is especially exciting. Although it doesn't snow and the 70 degree weather can defrost a little of the holiday cheer, Rodeo Drive more than makes up for it. All along Rodeo the palm trees are wrapped in white lights, wreaths are hung from the street lights and the store fronts create winter wonderlands. A trip to Rodeo at Christmas can be as enjoyable and in the season as a stroll down New York City's fifth avenue.
Getting to Rodeo Drive is easy as it is connected to all the major streets of Los Angeles (Sunset, Santa Monica Blvd and Wilshire Blvd). Parking is accessible and there are frequent tour buses that pass through as well.
