I have finally awoken, can you give me some advice to further shed some light?

Without writing a long narrative I'll cut to the crux of it and say that:
I have been trying to out do and impress the Jonse's for several years now and have had enough. My thirst for livin' like a man of real wealth when in actuality I am upper-middle class has cost me dearly. What tips can you give to to become a more thrifty "cheapskate".
