The Wonder of Silk Filled Duvets
A lot of us take for granted something as simple as a good nights sleep. Some people struggle to find a few hours of peaceful sleep a night, which can make you feel as if you are literally in a nightmare. Difficulty sleeping can sometimes be overcome by a change in bedding. There are definite benefits in sleeping in natural fibers such as silk or cotton. Not many people know about the benefits of a silk filled duvet.
Historically, the Chinese were the first to take advantage of the amazing properties that silk holds. The privilege of having silk bedding was only for the top commanding soldiers, along with royalty and the emperor himself. But fortunately now everyone can enjoy the luxury of silk filled duvets for their sleep.
Unlike normal duvets, silk filled duvets have many other benefits which would almost make you think that silk was designed specifically for a good nights sleep. For instance, the silk fibers are able to breathe, unlike synthetic materials. Silk filled duvets allow your body heat to seep through the material, regulating the temperature under the covers throughout the night, so that you are not too hot and also not too cold. Duvets made from materials such as polyester keep all the heat in, rising your body temperature throughout the night and causing an uncomfortable sleep.
As well as being able to control your body heat, silk filled duvets provide natural protection against irritants that would interrupt your sleep. This is great news for those that suffer from asthma and allergies inflected by dust mites, as the natural fibers in silk filled duvets make it impossible for them to stay in that sort of environment. Not to mention that the natural properties in silk will also make the material stronger and more durable, making the product's life expectancy a lot longer than the traditional duvet.
The only negative point to mention in regards to silk filled duvets is that some companies can spoil the uniqueness and quality of the product by not producing it correctly and skimping on the finer details that make silk filled duvets great. Silk duvets are basically several layers of silk that have been built up in a delicate and precise grid pattern. These layers are then stitched between a cotton outer layer to create a silk filled duvet. The more layers of silk, the warmer the duvet will be. However, some manufactures of silk don't pay attention to this procedure and cut the amount of layers short and then stuff then into a duvet. If this is done then it negatively impacts on the heat regulation within the duvet, taking away one of it most defining characteristics.
Ensure that if you do invest in a silk filled duvet, you purchase one from a reputable company that uses high quality materials. A good duvet should last for years given proper care, and provide you with many nights of restful sleep.

What is better? Hollow-fibre or Goose Down Duvet? Want to buy a new duvet but a bit confused as what is better. Need something to keep me warm in those winter nights (except my bf hehe:) No electric blankets please! thanks
Goose down, all my duvets are stuffed with Feather & Down. they are the warmest!
