The Christmas tree: Pagan or Christian?
The Christmas tree has been part of the Christmas celebration for a very long time. The tree is usually green and comes in a particular shape and size. It is set up during the festivity in homes, churches, shops, public places often decorated with ribbons, balloons, lights, candles, bells, presents etc. The world's tallest Christmas tree, decorated with the most expensive jewellery is said to be located in Abu Dhabi, in the United Arab Emirates.
Certain Christian groups reject this practice as pagan and idolatrous. Others don't care for what it is. They just love the tree for its beauty not knowing what it stands for!
It was an ancient practice to use symbols and emblems to conceal truth or convey messages. Even today, national flags, coats of arms, military insignia, road signs, have something to tell; churches, schools, colleges and universities; football clubs, all have designed their own crests to pass on unwritten messages. Certain trees, plants and flowers have been given special significance. Why use palm branches for Palm Sunday, a Christian festival?
The branch, in ancient Roman language was called "ramus" and Palm Sunday "les rameaux" (in French). Once again the name of the ancient God Ram or Rahma appears. The olive tree, its oil and branch bear special significance. The olive branch stands for peace, its oil for the Holy Spirit. The Oak, the king of all trees is the tree of the ancient father God of the Romans, Jupiter, also called "Jove".
The special shape of the Christmas tree deserves attention. It is a tree shaped like a triangle, a pyramid, a cone, ice-cream cornet, a pineapple, a tower, a hill and many more. The Christmas tree in this shape (ᴧ) is speaking about the personality of Godhead-high, dominating, commanding influence and power. The ancient believed in a Trinitarian God – Father, Son, and Spirit.
The God, divided into 3 parts, but joined together as one, is being represented with this triangular shape of the tree. And why is the tree green? The all powerful Personality of Godhead who was called Ram or Rahma later came to be given a new title- Virgo (Latin). This was contracted from Virago (Latin) meaning a man-like woman; a warrior, a heroine. These definitions parallel the original sense of the root word "vira" (Sanskrit) which means power, hero/heroine. A similar word in English reveals the true sense- virile, virility, viragoish etc.
It is from this source, "Virgo" that the new word "Virgin" was born. Today this word has lost its original meaning and has assumed new meanings. Ironically, the "Virgo" who was a spirit- anointed person, a woman, was the same person who transformed from old woman into a youth, looking like a young woman, a maiden!
The God, while in person, in the female form, stayed forever young, ever green. It is documented in the Bhagavad Gita (Indian) that the God RAM, Rahma, had an incorruptible body. He never aged beyond youth. The God Ram later became known as Jupiter (JOVIS/Jove) in ancient Rome. His youthful nature was comparable to the Eagle bird which can renew itself from time to time and live forever young, even when dead! (Psalm 103:1-5; Hos 8:1)
In many churches, the symbol of the Eagle can be seen. It is also used as a national symbol in many countries. The words "young", "youth", "juvenile" all proceed from Jove (Jupiter). The spirit of the God Ram indwelling Mary transformed Mary's body into something new. We read that her body was preserved from corruption which is the normal lot of man. Furthermore,;. (Pages 210, 220, Divine Mysteries of the Holy Rosary)
Virgo Diana (Acts 19:22ff) remained ever fresh like a maiden never withering. She became known as "amaranthus" (never withering) Mary and Diana are one!
The Christmas tree is an illustration of life; of immortality. Ram, Christ, came to give us life; to redeem us from death.
He brought immortality to light through Mary (John 10:10 John 6:16, John 11:25, 1 Tim 1:10)
Here are a few biblical verses to confirm:
- 1. I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of the Lord (Ps 52:8/Ps 1:1-3)
- 2. God's people can stay as fresh and strong as the tree (Is 65:22, proverb 11:30)
- 3. The righteous will flourish like a palm tree. They will bear fruit in old age. They will stay fresh and green. (Ps 92:12-15) why the tree?
The Christmas tree is not pagan. It is Christian. Its significance has been forgotten, in view of the fact that the Virgin Mary is not known for what she really is!

I got a great coat and it has a navy emblem but I want to replace it with the marines emblem. Im wondering if its ok for a civilian to wear the marine emblem in support. It wont be a rank emblem just the marine crest.
I just want to make sure im not disrespecting the marines.
Yes wear it, you have a freedom of speech, use it. But for the Marine emblem, I would man up and keep the Navy emblem.
