The bedroom is usually a place within people's homes that can become almost a kind of retreat from the general everyday stresses. What size is your bed and what does your bedding look like?

I have an old twin bed and I really want to get a queen this year. Is bedding for it much more? What size bed to you have and what does your bedspread look like? Do you like it?

I have a double-sized bed at both of my homes, and the lower half of an extra-long twin bunk bed at school. My bed at my mom's house is an antique four-post, and has a duvet cover that is predominantly white on the top with black piping along the perimeter. The sides of the duvet have a black floral print. The sheet set is black and white and adorned with green meadowlarks and nightingales that I love. I have a green satin coverlet folded on top of the duvet at the foot of the bed. My favorite feature of that bed are the pillowcases with songbirds perched on branches.

At my dad's house I also have an antique double bed. The duvet cover there is lavender with an aubergine purple floral pattern. My sheet set on that bed is also from Anthropologie, and has a purple print with green vines. It's about a year old, so it's no longer on the Anthro site for me to be able to post a link to it. I usually have two purple and green Indian sari Euro-sized shams resting against the headboard with the purple shams that match the duvet cover in front of them, and a purple decorative pillow with a peacock feather. In this picture I don't have the sari shams or decorative pillow displayed because I'd taken them off to make room for my rather unattractive, but super comfortable denim lounge pillow that I often use when I'm playing my guitar. I'm ready for a new bedding set because I feel like I've outgrown the purple floral one that is reminiscent of Bella Swan's in the Twilight movies.

At school I have the "Distant Voyager" quilt from Anthropologie on top of a lightweight duvet in the turquoise "Laerke" cover from Urban Outfitters. I absolutely love the vibrant colors of the bedding, and how much warmth and personality it gives the room.

Usually queen bedding is more expensive than twin-sized because of all the extra material needed. A queen bed is typically around 21 inches wider and five inches longer than a twin. There's not always a dramatic difference in the pricing, though.
